HONDA CX500 GTS

CAFE RACER PROJECT

The CX500 Cafe Racer | Blacktrack BT-01

- now available to order from Blacktrack Motors.

In February 2016 Sacha Lakic launched the new motorcycle brand Blacktrack Motors, and a production of a limited series of the flagship model the BT-01, based on his renowned CX500 Cafe Racer.

The company was created as a result of his life-long obsession with motorcycles and following the great success of his custom built CX500 Cafe Racer presented for the first time in February 2015.
Blacktrack Motors' raison d'être is to create exclusive, undiluted cafe racers -based on classic motorcycles, stripped down and brought up to date with contemporary components.

The BT-01 is available in two editions:
the BT-01S (Sport Edition) and the BT-01R (Race Edition).

The production of the desirable BT-01R will be limited to 5 machines and available to order at the price of €55,000.
The BT-01S will be available in a small series of 20 and delivered at the price of €35,000.

These collectible cafe racers are built to order, and reservations are accepted on the website: www.blacktrackmotors.com

Each BT-01 will start out as a hand-picked, 80s-model Honda CX500 - treated to a thorough overhaul before any other work commences. As with the prototype, it will then be stripped of all superfluous bits, and redesigned to be more compact. It'll be made significantly lighter, and an arsenal of top-shelf and custom-made components will bring the BT-01's performance and handling up to date. Clip on handlebars, rear set foot controls and a solo seat configuration all hint at its uncompromising nature.

About the CX500 Honda project:

To start off a good project, all you need sometimes is a bit of passion and a few cold beers...

My friends had a good old CX500 from 1982 standing in one corner of their garage, and some spare special parts scattered on the shelves in the other.

For my part, I have always been a great fan of the engine of this machine, a magnificent 80-degree V-twin engine full of character and very aesthetic, that I have tried to highlight further by adding an Y-shaped exhaust manifold.
The other original and very successful piece is the tank. The design is quite modern and well proportioned, I have simply made it more dynamic by shifting the position forward some 10 degrees.

For the rest, I have applied the same recipe as for the Voxan Black Magic that I designed in 2004. The colour codes are quite similar with a dominant matt black, a touch of red and aluminium.
The overall design is minimalist and serves just one thing, to draw attention to the engine.
