WATTMAN, the symbol of a new era and of Voxan’s renewal, is the most powerful electric motorbike made to date. A huge step forward in personal electric transport, it is blazing the trail for the motorbikes of tomorrow.

Like all avant-garde projects, WATTMAN is created from a blank slate. It overcomes three challenges:

Challenge 1: to show that an electric motorbike needn’t be dull ... far from it! It can be desirable, offering both pride and pleasure to its rider.

Challenge 2: to say goodbye to the traditional motorbike model, and hello to a forward-looking bike body with a one-piece, aluminium chassis, parallelogram suspension, high-powered electric technology, and sophisticated electronic components.

Challenge 3: to launch a new philosophy, as the noise, cylinders, petrol and vibration that typified motorbikes of the last generation have given way to a new approach focusing more on silence and technology, while remaining just as emotional.

What has stayed?
The two generations of motorbikes do have some main basic points in common: rider enjoyment, the feeling of extreme acceleration, the joy of freedom and non-conformity, and the unique bond between a man and his machine that only the boldest of bikes can bring.

Traditional motorbikes have changed little over the last century, in either appearance or technology. Paradoxically, manufacturers look to the past when designing the bikes of today. Evidence of uncertainty about the future, of an ageing population, or of a simple lack of creativity, perhaps?

Standing at the forefront of technology, WATTMAN looks to the future to inspire the present. This is the 2.0 Motorcycle.

WATTMAN’s most striking technical attribute is undoubtedly its one-piece aluminium frame, which is at once an aesthetic signature and a key structural element. This piece of raw aluminium, shaped in three dimensions, contains the batteries, motor, gearbox, and electronic components. Like a sophisticated exoskeleton, it supports other vital parts of the bike, such as the saddle, rear, and front end.

WATTMAN is a masterpiece of modern technology. Even at first glance, it is clearly not like other motorbikes:

- Its curved, solid aluminium chassis offers a remarkably uninterrupted, smooth surface and a sophisticated shape.
- Its rear suspension parallelogram is a first on the motorbike market, emphasising the strong rear section of the motorbike and offering a glimpse of the power that will go straight to the ground.
- Long and sensuous, the one-person saddle gives the top of the bike an elegant shape, with contours that extend towards the headlamp.
- The circular sidelights in bright, electric blue allow the power harboured inside the WATTMAN to shine out, almost as if the bike had a soul.

Who is WATTMAN for? WATTMAN is designed for those who love all that is beautiful, high-tech, and thrilling. You don’t need to be a Cyborg to ride it. Good jeans, black leather boots, a distressed leather jacket, and you’re all ready for your journey into the present day.

10 years
Almost ten years ago, in 2004, I presented a motorbike that came straight from my heart and my gut: the Voxan BLACK MAGIC. It was a bike with character, which made a strong impression and defined the DNA of Voxan. WATTMAN has inherited this same DNA, but it has evolved: whilst the BLACK MAGIC looked to the past for inspiration, WATTMAN looks to the future.

Since then, I have spent ten years opening my mind and my creativity to other fields such as architecture, cars, or contemporary furniture design.
After ten years away from the world of motorbikes, I have come back with fresh ideas to offer. My passion is still as great, perhaps even greater, because I want to create something truly different.

WATTMAN is the embodiment of my love for motorbikes, these unique machines that defy the laws of gravity and balance, bringing riders the kind enjoyment that few forms of transport can offer.

In the words of architect Oscar Niemeyer: “what matters is not knowing where the inspiration comes from, but where it is taking you.”
